Experiences from Project CASA

Here is the first version of our WBS. One thing that we lacked here is that we are not specific enough with our deliverables/components. This makes it harder for us to break it down further.
WBS requires critical thinking, to break down the work to work packages. The group should keep prompting questions for one another.

After prompting questions for each other, we managed to come up with our finalised WBS. But do take note that the deliverables in your WBS can change overtime. For instance, the different bins for different waste could not be implemented as the scale of the waste generated from such events is too small for to engage vendors to recycle the waste.

Developing WBS can be difficult, one tip is to constantly question each other whether the component is useful and always link back to your project objectives.

Personally, I feel that WBS is a very important tool for project management. WBS can be used together with the RACI chart to assign resposibilities for each
other. Additionally, the WBS also helps in the development of Gantt chart used in Time Management when creating network diagram and identifying the critical paths.
The main challenges that our group faced when developing the WBS was not knowing how to break down the components properly to work packages. It was because we were not 100% sure about some points in the project briefs. We were not very confident with some of our deliverables as we were not given the existing toolkit that the school was using to plan for their graduation event.
All in all, the WBS was able to efficiently help us layout what should be done for the project, allocation of resposibilities and indirectly help with time management.

Now that you have better knowledge on the types of tool we used for task management, lets now move on to the next component of project management. Time Management
