What is task management

Task management is a process where one identifies, monitors and progresses the work that needs to be done during the day. In terms of project management, task management is how workflow is efficiently organized. It’s task-oriented, detailed and part of the larger scheduling of a project.

Work Breakdown Structure

The WBS is ideally going to your number one go-to task management tool. WBS is also going to very helpful when it come to time management.

This video here basically sums up what WBS is.

  1. Identify your project objectives

  3. Breakdown major deliverables into smaller components

  4. The smallest components are eventually work packages

Here is an example how you can develop a WBS for a birthday party. As you can see the WBS was developed based on components. 

​

The project objectives here is to have a birthday party.

​

The major deliverables are components you see at level 1

​

The work packages are up to level 3 for food and setup while up to level 2 for planning, logistics and clean up.

According to the video, it will be good if you and your team come together with sticky notes to identify the deliverables, components and work packages after properly identifying what your project objectives are.
